Reflection on Group Work

Initially I approached the group project with apprehension due to past experiences with poor communication, lack of care, and unwillingness to cooperate. However, I quickly realised this group would be different. There was immediate eagerness to communicate via Instagram and allocate roles to begin tasks promptly. This was paired with consistent updates and fast replies when issues arose.
In our initial meeting, we divided roles based on SDG components: one member summarising 14.1 overall, one covering indicator 14.1.1 (me), and one handling indicator 14.1.2. We created a shared document with multiple tabs so everyone could access each other's research and avoid overlapping information. Progress tracking occurred through regular in-person meetings where we established concrete goals for subsequent sessions, creating accountability and momentum.
Remarkably, we encountered no significant conflicts. When opposing opinions arose, we resolved them through respectful communication and compromise, genuinely considering each perspective. For example, one member wanted to film our voiceover on Zoom with our faces visible. The other member and I were apprehensive about appearing on screen, but he explained his reasoning and we decided to trust him. This ultimately paid off when our demonstrator noted in our feedback, "Points for personal appearances too - very brave," and we received full marks for that section.
Overall, I found this group experience extremely positive. I will take the communication skills, scheduling abilities, and open-mindedness I learned throughout this assignment into my future projects.
